Blink-182 considered naming their new album either "Nude Erection" or "No Hard Feelings". The band eventually settled on the more mature 'California' for the album, their first featuring Matt Skiba. The record will be released on July 1 and was preceded by new song 'Bored To Death', which premiered earlier this week. The single marks the first new recording by the band since 2011's 'Neighbourhoods'. All three members of the band paid a visit to US radio station KROQ yesterday to discuss the making of 'California' and what life is like since the departure of founder member Tom DeLonge in 2015. Press Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker of the band had an album ready to record with DeLonge and his exit came when getting into the studio proved to be a problem. Speaking on KROQ, Hoppus confirmed that those songs have been replaced by all-new material. "We threw them all away and walked in the studio with [producer] John [Feldmann] and wrote 28 songs in a period of 3-4 weeks," the bassist said (via Billboard). Hoppus added that before settling on 'California' they considered alternative titles 'Nude Erection', 'OB-GYN Kenobi' and 'No Hard Feelings'. The last track on the album is titled 'Brohemian Rhapsody', which the band say is a Queen cover played entirely with hand farts. Travis Barker added that recruiting Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba to their ranks proved effortless. "We've known Matt for years... and we never said, 'we have to go in and record,'" he said. "He was the only one... the only person we could do it with was Matt Skiba," he said. "And we were right." Watch the lyric video for 'Bored To Death' below.
