Chris Brown helped hand out 2,000 turkeys to members of the community of the New York borough of Queens on Wednesday (November 25). Thanksgiving takes place in the US on Thursday (November 26), with the R&B star visiting the South Jamaica neighbourhood to deliver turkeys from the back of a truck. Posting videos and photos to Instagram, Brown later wrote: "I honestly challenge the celebrities. We think about ourselves all the time and take everything for granted. Driving nice cars, jewelry, pretending to be something we aren’t. Let’s give back because it’s the right thing to do." See footage beneath. The group's criticism was centred around Brown's 2009 conviction for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna. A statement on their website read: "By turning a blind eye to his tour, we send a message to survivors of family violence that it's not that important and that you should just get over it."
