Jake Bugg has said he'd rather watch Earth Wind & Fire than Coldplay. Bugg was headlining the John Peel Stage at Glastonbury at the same time as Chris Martin's band were topping the bill on the Pyramid Stage. The Nottingham singer-songwriter told the half-empt tent: "I appreciate you coming out when you could have been watching Coldplay. "Or Earth, Wind & Fire, which is what I'd rather be seeing," he added. Bugg last performed at Glastonbury when he headlined the Other Stage in 2014. Since then, he has released his third album 'On My One', on which he worked with Beastie Boys' Mike D. Quizzed in 2015 on what it's like to work with the hip-hop star, Bugg replied: "It is a good idea to bounce ideas off someone and get an opinion. If he says it's cool it is cool. He's been playing me unheard Beastie Boys mixtapes."

The film tells the story of a Jewish barber played by Chaplin, who spends years in an army hospital, unaware of the simultaneous rise of fascist dictator Adenoid Hynkel also played by Chaplin. The speech begins: "I'm sorry, but I don't want to be an emperor. That's not my business. I don't want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone if possible; Jew, Gentile, black man, white. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that."

While playing 'Everglow', Martin halted the band to ask about an issue with his piano's tuning. "Wait, wait, wait, what's going on there, man? Is that really out of tune?" he asked his bandmates. "One of us is out. "That's a terrible problem," he continued. "Shall we just skip to the next song or should I just do it on my own?" The crowd booed at the suggestion of missing the song, to which Martin responded: "OK, so having introduced the best band of my lifetime, now they're going to leave me on my own, but we can muster through." He then played the rest of the song by himself, before the band were reintroduced for the next track, 'Clocks'.

During Coldplay's Glastonbury set encore, Chris Martin said that they would be taking a request from Instagram. A video of Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis was projected, with Eavis stating that often people ask him who he would love to play the festival. He replied that "most of them are dead now" but one that he's always wanted is The Bee Gees because they have "lovely songs". Getty Chris Martin told the crowd that he could do one better and bring out an actual Bee Gee, before introducing Barry Gibb. The pair proceeded to cover 'To Love Somebody' with a special, stripped-back acoustic performance before launching into a full band performance of 'Staying Alive'. Robin Gibb passed away on March 20 2012 following a long battle with cancer. Maurice Gibb died on January 12 2003 due to cardiac arrest.

Coldplay played a Viola Beach song during their Glastonbury set, after Chris Martin said that the late band "reminded us of ourselves in our early days". The Warrington band were on tour in Sweden when their car plummeted into a canal during a crash on February 13, killing all four band members (Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe and Jack Dakin) and their manager Craig Tarry. Speaking to the crowd, Martin said that at this point in their show, the band usually cover 'Heroes' by David Bowie but instead, they wanted to do something different. Getty Speaking of the band's accident, Martin said '[Coldplay] thought that was just the worst' before introducing the track. He commented, "We're going to create Viola Beach's alternative future for them and let them play Glastonbury for a song." He added, "this would have been [Viola Beach] in 20 years." The band then projected a live performance of 'Boys That Sing' from Viola Beach, playing alongside the recording. Before playing, Martin urged the crowd to "send [Boys That Sing] up the charts. A 9-track album from Viola Beach will now be released on July 29 via the band's own Fuller Beans Records label. It will include 'Swings & Waterslides', which entered the UK Singles Chart following the tragedy, and lead single 'Boys That Sing'.

Coldplay have paid tribute to the late Muhammad Ali during their headlining Glastonbury set. A projection of Ali appeared after a performance of 'Everglow', with a clip of Ali being interviewed after a match in 1977. Ali began: "God is watching me. God don't praise me because I beat Joe Frazier. God don't give nothing about Joe Frazier. God don't care nothing about England or America as far as we aware of." Getty Continuing, Ali said: "He wants to know how do we treat each other, how do we help each other. So I'm going to dedicate my life to using my name and popularity to helping charities, helping people, uniting people…..we need somebody in the world to help us all make peace. So when I die, if there's a heaven, I want to see it." The athlete famously suffered from Parkinson's disease which he battled for the last 32 years of his life. The star died in Phoenix, Arizona after being admitted to hospital on Thursday with respiratory problems. Ali, born Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr., was considered by many to be the greatest heavyweight boxer in history. He remains the only three-time lineal heavyweight champion of the world, taking home the title in 1964, 1974 and 1978. The boxer, often known simply as 'The Greatest', left behind nine children - seven daughters and two sons - from his four marriages.

The band are currently playing their fourth headlining slot at the festival, opening up their set with a playback of Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator speech. After playing 'Head Full of Dreams' and 2000's 'Yellow' Chris Martin addressed the crowd, saying Glastonbury is their "favourite place in the entire world." Getty Continuing he said, "We were scared of the world before we came here but you have restored our faith in the world. Together we can do great things." Before embarking on a performance of 'Everglow', Martin praised the crowd for getting through a weekend of rain and mud. "I was walking around with my two children – Apple and Moses – and I tip my hat to you," he said. "You've got through everything this weekend. The collapse of a country and everything," he added.
